Best Luxury Hotels in Skopelos

Looking for the best luxury hotels in Skopelos? Skopelos may not have the spectacle of Santorini or ooze glamour like Mykonos, but it has a quiet confidence that gets under your skin. Olive groves give way to sprawling vineyards and plum orchards, the bounty of which can be found on taverna menus across the island. Part of the Northern Sporades archipelago, this forested speck can only be reached by boat – but that’s part of its charm. It’s remote and peaceful, with a rugged beauty that caught the eye of the location manager for Mamma Mia, the 2008 film adaptation of the Abba musical. Here’s our comprehensive guide to Skopelos holidays.

Skopelos is a far cry from overcrowded beaches and themed bars, it’s more about unspoiled island life – simple, rustic Greek food; quiet mountain walks and near-deserted beaches. This is one of those rare places you can unplug from modern life – it’s idyllic. Visit here for all of the most amazing beaches of Greece, or on our Pinterest site.

I can´t stop looking at those photos! Greece really has paradisiac veiws and the culture is something I am really up to. Kastani Beach seems to be the pretiest of all, but if I had to choose one, which one would you recommend? Also, Aegean Hotel looks really nice, but is it near to all the activities you mention in the artcile? I´m not into renting a car you know..

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Definitely Hovolo Beach.  I like a quieter beach, so that is my top choice.  The Aegean Hotel is located very close to the beach, and restaurants.  It’s in an area where there are many hotels, so you will find plenty of things close by.  If you click on the hotel link, there is a map of where the hotel is located.  So, you can see how close to everything it is.

  2. only1hugh

Too often beaches are spoiled by being made too commercial. By that I mean there are stretches of hotels, bars, beach paraphernalia, beach activities and of course loads of people. There is something very attractive about a beach like Skopelos that is much more serene, has a natural allure, and is not built up. I liked the beachfront proximity of Adrina but prefer the Skopelos Village hotel as it is close to both the beach and the village so I can get a dual experience. And with a 9.7 review rating, I could not want better than that!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

I know all about what you are talking about.  I live by the #1 beach in the U.S. and it is so over commercialized, populated, crowded, etc.  I drive down the road for my day at the beach.

  3. Tony

    Hi Leahrae

Thank you for a great, detailed post. I am always on the lookout for a new holiday destination, and this is one I will definitely add to the list. I haven’t been to Greece yet, but it is high up on my list. Scuba diving is always n my list of things to do, does Skopelos offer many sites?

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Yes, there is plenty of scuba diving for you and places where you can rent equipment.  You would enjoy Tony 🙂 Thanks for visiting my best luxury hotels in Skopelos guide.

  4. Angel

    Dear Leahrae,

What can I say but that you have an amazing website about both Beaches and Beach Hotels! I love it! My hubby and I are travel bloggers who love beaches. This looks like a website we shall Bookmark and Visit often. You have made it so well that you have even took the time to list out Places To Eat as well!

The white sand beaches look so breathtaking, beautiful, and a sure tropical gem to visit and indulge in!I Is there a chance to see dolphins or sharks at these places? I am scared of sharks since seeing the movie Jaws.

Wishing you all the best with your online success Above Beyond the Horizon,

    ~Angelina Jolina

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

You will see lots of dolphins, but you won’t see sharks.  Dolphins like to swarm around boat motors, and really any activity like paddle boarding or kayaking.  So enjoy!  And thank you Angle, for taking the time to leave me comments.

  5. Jannette

Your website offers so many beach travel destinations that it is hard to choose just one location to visit for my next vacation with my family. Traveling to Skopelos sounds very intriguing and the hotels are grand. After reading the ratings of each hotel think would be nice choice to stay at Adrina Beach Hotel.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Skopelos is beautiful and you will enjoy the Adrina Beach Hotel.  Being right on the water makes it a great choice in my book.  Thanks for visiting the best luxury hotels in Skopelos.

  6. Paolo

I have been researching about the city of Skopelos before going. And I would like to share with you all what I have found interesting. If you like archeology stuff, Skopelos has more than a hundred churches. The earliest ones date back to the 9th century. In the port of Skopelos, there was in ancient times a temple of Athena and now there is a Venetian fortress. There are numerous monasteries all over the island.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Yes, I knew about the churches.  There is certainly a lot to see and do in Skopelos, besides just visiting the beaches.  Definitely a 2-week vacation time frame to see and do everything that interests you.

  7. Toplink

I just finished reading your review on Rhodes and all its surrounding attractions and I was impressed! Now I read your article on Skopelos and I immediately say wow! The two locations would make a supreme luxury holiday that would have lasting memories. This area is a perfect hideaway off the beaten path but still really not that far away. Being remote and peaceful with plenty of beauty of beauty and some of the most amazing beaches. I am enthralled; Greece is the perfect location for a summer holiday!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

It is the perfect destination for a summer holiday!  Thank you for taking the time to leave me comments.

  8. Erica Schulte

Hello! I have been reading so many articles on your website today thinking about my next vacation! I have been to Santorini and Mykonos, and it sounds like Skopelos would be a calmer and more secluded option to consider next. The waters look perfectly clear and inviting. I will definitely be looking into these hotels for my next trip!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Great Erica, please let me know if you need any additional information.  And yes, calmer.

  9. Marlene

Hi Leahrae, Great post again we really enjoyed learning more about Skopelos, but we only see adds for the hotels and no actual reviews for the hotels on your post. Could you please elaborate more on the hotels available in the Skopelos area? We are planning a trip and would like to know more details, same as the restaurants and bars like you did in the post.

Thank you for a great post.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Thank you Marlene, I am glad you have enjoyed your visit to the best luxury hotels in Skopelos.  If you click on the individual hotels, you can get all the information for that particular hotel.  You can do so on any or all of them.  My post would be way too long if I did a hotel description for each one.  This way you can go thru a few of them and all the information on the hotel will be there for you as well as the pricing.  I hope that answers your question.

  10. Grace

I am looking forward to our next trip!

    Thanks again,
