Known for its moderate climate all year round, Baywood Los Osos CA has average temps between 50 – 60 in the winter; mid 60 – 70 in the summer. Romantic morning mists are typical most mornings, giving way to sunny afternoons and cool evenings during the summer. Winter is surprisingly clear, with sunny days and cool, clear nights. As the most secluded beach in the area, there is only one way to access the Sandspit from Morro Bay: by water. Paddleboard, kayak, canoe, or boat over, and you’ll likely have the place to yourself…aside from the birds. South of Morro Rock, the Sandspit isn’t far away from the action, but it feels like an escape.
Point Buchon Trail Beaches
Point Buchon Trail leads to beautiful views of eroding cliffs, sea stacks, and rock arches. Some beaches are visible from the bluff, but they are not accessible down the steep cliffs. However, the beach closest to the trailhead (Coon Creek Beach) is accessible from the Point Buchon Trail.
This beautiful cove has a pebbly beach, tide pools, caves, and unique rock formations to climb around on especially at lower tides. Spooners Cove is the only area of Montana de Oro State Park where dogs are allowed on the beach, but they must be on a leash.
Pasadena Park is a small neighborhood park between homes on Morro Bay in Los Osos, CA. The shore at the park is mostly mud flats that are narrow at high tide. From this park the view looks out across the bay to the dunes on the sand spit that protects the harbor.
