Mykonos Weather (When to Visit)
The best time to visit Mykonos is September and October. This island’s weather permits a year-round flow of tourists, but in September and October you’ll smaller crowds, the water remains warm and the hotel rates are lower and more in a reasonable range. The spring is also a great (and affordable) vacation time. Mykonos experiences a typical Mediterranean winter with average temperatures in the 50s. June, July and August are especially busy, and temperatures average in the upper 70s and 80s. In the summer you’ll have nonstop parties and pricey hotel rates.
Best Mykonos Beaches
Platys Gialos Beach
Often also spelled Platis Gialos (and sometimes Platis Yialos), this large beach is quite popular, thanks to the number of hotels which are almost literally on the sand. The hotels, sunbeds and umbrellas, plus the shallow crystal waters, attract families and young couples. Great beach for water sports.
Known to attract local and international celebrities, this beach is one of Mykonos’ most famous, and is always crowded in the summer. Visitors come here is for the beautiful scenery, swimming in emerald green water, and water sports. There are many sunbeds, but at quite high prices (the cost depends on how close they are to the sea, and you won’t find any for less than 25 euros).
Super Paradise Beach
Super Paradise is one of the most popular beaches on the island, and is covered in sunbeds and umbrellas. If you don’t like a crowd, you may not like this beach, but you may overlook that when you set foot in the water. It’s absolutely crystal clear, and although the beach still has somewhat of a party atmosphere (with the music volume raised in the afternoon), the water makes it also ideal for families with children.
This beach is almost completely covered in umbrellas and sunbeds, but there’s a small sunbed-free section for those who prefer to lie on the sand. On the sunbed-free section you’ll find the gay crowds, usually wearing nothing but their birthday suit.
It’s the famous party beach on the island, filled with bars where the 20-somethings want to be at, day and night. It has plenty of places to eat, drink, and shop for beach essentials, as well as frequent bus connections to Mykonos Town.

This is my first time to know Mykonos and I am very much amazed how popular and crowded it is. It must be a fun and exciting place one should get an experience of. However, due to the high demand, price tags are inflated so it is better to go with your advice by visiting around September and November to get lower prices. There is so much to explore and enjoy…

It is as you say! It is a beautiful place…
We went with my Girlfriend and I remember very much that at dusk we went to see the sunset in the town of Mykonos. Another unmissable place is its famous Windmills, which date back to the 16th century when wheat and bread were produced on the island.
From there there is an excellent view of the sector called Little Venice, a waterfront full of restaurants and white houses of 2 and 3 floors that resemble those of Venice and represent the typical landscape of Mykonos. It is the ideal place to watch the sunset, people congregate there to chat, have a few beers, a good wine or just watch the sun melt in the waters of the Aegean. It is quite beautiful.
At night, the best plan is to walk the streets of white houses lit and crowded with people. The nightlife in Mykonos is an experience to live, for some time I felt in the Milan fashion week or in a haute couture fashion show in Paris. The amount of elegant people, more women than men, the waste of money and the cameras that capture the new trends of European summer fashion make the whole environment transport you to the depths of waste and human superficiality.
It is not the environment that I like most in life, however, you have to see it to believe it!
Thank you for this excellent review, the truth is that I have many things left to do! 🙂
Thank you Pablo for taking the time to leave me comments and tips. The windmills is a great choice and not to miss. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Again, thanks for sharing and stopping by beach travel destinations.

Mykonos definitely has fun and adventure written all over it. My friends and I are planning a get-together and this feels like the ideal destination but it seems we’ll have to find a way to make it happen in the summer for the reason that it is supposed to be a fun and unforgettable experience. We also have every intention of meeting new people and making friends in the process. I’ll have to put the Psarou beach at the top of our visit list. Thanks for sharing

I’m planning a stag do for August this year & just trying to decide location, Mykonos sounds like it may be ideal and specifically Paradise Beach.
It sounds ideal in terms of restaurants, bars and nightlife. The only other thing we’re ideally looking for is beach and water sports to do during the day.
In your experience is Mykonos good for that as well?
Of course Nate, there is plenty of water sports to keep you all entertained for the duration of your vacation. You’ll find everything you need in Mykonos. You’ll want to go to Kalafatis beach where you will find a variety of water sports can be found here, such as jet ski, water ski, scuba diving, windsurfing, and wake boarding. At Platis Giolos Beach there is also a big range of water sports and water games are available, including jet ski, water ski, wake boarding, wake skating, wake surfing, snorkeling, canoes, tube and banana rides. These two beaches have everything you need 🙂

Hi, I never been to Greece before but I imagine that it is wonderful place to visit. I’ve never been to Europe actually. I really enjoyed the video, of the Drone footage I was really impressed to see if there’s buildings like that so close to the water. My first thought was that it would be the time to go right now. Which is almost February. However, like you said there are less people oh, and the water is warmer, in September and October.
It is a wonderful place to visit Jake! Now you will have to start planning. I am glad you enjoyed my Mykonos Greece Tourist Guide.

I look forward to planning a vacation to Mykonos, and you have given me quite a bit of information. I am especially interested in the ancient Delos tour and the sunset cruise. Yep Jon, I agree. The water is so inviting and you can’t go wrong with any beach actually. The tours you have decided to do are great, you will have an amazing time. Thanks for visiting my Mykonos Greece Tourist Guide.
This travel guide about Mykonos is fantastic.
In my opinion, as a European, the most beautiful summer vacation destinations are those in Greece. Last year I was in Thasos and Crete and I want to say it was amazing. This year I would like to get in Mykonos. The water here is so blue and warm that I would sit at the beach all day. I look at Elia Beach and I can say that it is the perfect destination for swimming. I have heard that the restaurants here are full of Greek delicatessens and the biggest advantage is that the prices are not very high. Thank for this guide.
You are very welcome. I envy you having been to Thasos and Crete last year. Must have been amazing. I think you will find Mykonos Greece to be just as amazing. Please let me know how your vacation goes.
Thanks a lot for such an amazing review about Mykonos Greece Tourist Guide and explanations are given.
