With its location so close to Africa, you can expect hot and sunny weather throughout the year in Costa Calma. If you love the heat, the best time to visit Costa Calma is between July and September. Temperatures range between 77°F and 82°F. If you are looking for cooler temperatures, the best time is between April and June or in October. The average temperature ranges from 70°F and 73°F, which is warm enough for a relaxing day at the beach or enjoying a spot of sightseeing around the island.
Costa Calma is known for its winds. Northeast trade winds paired with the cool waters of the surrounding sea means that the island is in the direct path of regular cooling breezes. This is great for water sports in the summer when the sea conditions are perfect for windsurfing with an average temperature of 72°F.

Sotavento Lagoon
A 4 km long, standing-depth area fills with sea water at high tide, across Sotavento beach. This turquoise water, heated by the sun creates a perfect schooling area. African Market
This small and little-known market is located on the street of Happag Lloyd in the area of Costa Calma. You’ll find all kinds of African arts and crafts here from the good-luck charms of different cultures to bags, clothes and original accessories made with materials and motifs from the African continent. Playa Esmeralda
Playa Esmeralda (Emerald Beach) is a small beach that separates the beaches of Costa Calma in the Sotavento beach, one of the most famous of Fuerteventura, and the most famous for Windsurfers. It is a relatively wind-protected beach, turquoise water and white sand, small size and where not many people, because access is by car, by a road not in very good condition.

Fantastic food, with of lots of chunks of garlic in everything. This bar is run by Wolfgang and his partner, and it’s run very well. There is live music some evenings, and other nights background music from a deck.
