Thank you so much! That’s such a great question—and honestly, both are incredible choices. Palawan is perfect if you’re after postcard-perfect beaches, lagoons, and a touch of luxury with easy island-hopping. Siargao, on the other hand, has that relaxed, surf-town vibe with hidden lagoons, waterfalls, and fun local cafés. If it’s your first trip, I’d start with Palawan for the wow factor, then plan Siargao next for a slower, more laid-back escape.

    Hey,

Another great review from my favorite reviewer! And again a wonderful overview of the Philippines! It is one of those areas that has been on my bucket list for a long time.

However, I wonder something: here in Belgium, there are many older men who go to get their future wives in the Philippines… Is it because there is so much poverty there and those women want a better life?

As usual, you have mentioned everything you need to know about the Philippines itself, and it is extensive.

    Thanks again!

    Yours sincerely,

My wife and I have been talking about a trip to the Philippines for some time because she is half Filipina.  This article is a great resource for planning our travel.  I am going to bookmark it.  I have a couple of questions.  What are the rates for hotels like as compared to those in the US?  Also, are any of the general areas near the hotels you have mentioned dangerous?  We are thinking about an all inclusive package so as we check out each hotel you have suggested, we will be looking for that.  Thanks for the article and related ones.  They are a great help.

I do have all of the best hotel choices listed at the bottom of the post with prices.  You can go thru them and select your top choices, plug in dates, and it will give the cost for those dates.  No, the areas I have chosen are not dangerous.  So enjoy, and please let me know if you have any additional questions.

My great uncle spent 30 years in the Philippines as a missionary and he always loved it. I’m not sure why he returned to Belgium, because he spoke better English than Flemish in the end 😉 and after 30 years of being away it can’t be easy to adapt to the way of life in Belgium anymore. Anyway, ever since then I’ve always had an interest in visiting the Philippines. As a little girl I saw many pictures, and it was always beautiful.

The beach resorts look beautiful and I would love to unwind in one of them for a week or so, and explore the beaches and countryside. I also heard that the food is excellent. Is there a hurricane season or do typhoons occur randomly throughout the year? Are there any rules regarding covid to enter the country?

Yes, at this time you have to be fully vaccinate in order to get entry into the Philippines.  You can find additional information here, as the information does change.  And yes, it is beautiful.  Definitely worth vacationing to for sure.

The Philippines look like a beautiful holiday destination, although I was under the impression that it is a poor country with high crime rate. But it seems that I was wrong. You mention that typhoons could be as early as August and as late as January, so is the main typhoon season during that time then? I would prefer to visit the Philippines when it is dry and not typhoon season. Thanks for sharing another beautiful beach destination.

Yes, that is the typhoon season, with September historically the worst.  I prefer not to go during the rainy season either.  Mindaneao Island, the Sulu Archipelago and Sulu Sea are not safe to travel to because of the terrorist groups.  So you are not wrong, the whole far south of the Philippines should not be traveled to.  The islands I mention are safe to travel to.  You can visit Travel Advisories Here.

The Philippines is one place I haven’t been but it’s on my list!  Your site makes it easy to pick the best locations to visit and the best things to do once we’re there!  I would love to plan a trip for the end of January to beat the winter blues.  The New World Makati Hotel sounds like a perfect fit to me because it’s right in the city center. After a day at the beach, it’s fun to strike out for some shopping, dining and nightlife.  Thank you for posting!

The Philippines is one of the destinations on the holiday list, planned for 2020. The chosen location was in Maribago, but unfortunately the lockdown shattered the vacation plans not only of me, but of the whole world.

But your article about the most beautiful beach resorts in the Philippines came at the right time. I have enough time to plan the trip for January 2022, given that the country is open for tourism.

And since the original location was in Maribago, I will pay more attention to Blue Water, Crimson Beach, and Shangri-La Mactan. Do you have any information about certain restrictions in these locations?

I look forward your answer. Thank you for sharing this information. Keep up the good work!

    Hi, Leahrae,

I loved your post. I’ve never visited the Philippines, but I would love to. The beaches look amazing, and the culture is interesting as well. I have a few Filipino friends, and they have told me wonders about their country. I hope to visit someday.

You mentioned the best time to go in terms of weather. I assume this is high season and prices are high? Am I right? I’m trying to find the best time to go in terms of weather and money. Any insight?

    Thanks for sharing.

Well, I think the Philippines are a much greater bargain then a lot of other beach destinations.  Yes, prices will be a bit higher during the high season.  You can chose a few hotels you like from my post and put in different dates, that will give you an idea of what the prices will be during that time.

Although I have many friends from the Phillippines, I have never considered this country as a vacation destination. The visual imagery I have had was of a poor country with ramshackle homes and high crime. These are all misconceptions for sure, but that was my impression.

Then I came across this post of yours. The penny dropped. After all, this is an island nation. In fact a nation of hundreds of islands. Therefore there must be places with beautiful beaches like you stated.

Can I conclude that vacationing in the Philippines can be very affordable?

    Cheers.
