Boracay looks absolutely gorgeous! My husband and I are thinking about going for our 20th anniversary, and those sunset sailboats caught my eye right away. We’ve done sunset cruises before, but never on one of those traditional Filipino boats. Is a paraw sailing trip something you’d recommend for a romantic evening, or would we be better off finding a nice beachfront restaurant to watch the sunset?

Hi Rachel! First of all, happy upcoming anniversary! Twenty years is definitely worth celebrating somewhere beautiful! I would absolutely recommend a sunset paraw sailing trip. Those traditional sailboats are such a special part of Boracay, and watching the sunset from the water would be a wonderful anniversary memory. I’d suggest booking a late-afternoon sailing trip and then enjoying a romantic beachfront dinner afterward. That way, you get the best of both experiences! White Beach has some lovely dining options, and Villa Caemilla Beach Boutique Hotel is worth looking into for its intimate atmosphere and beachfront dining. Have an amazing anniversary trip!

Boracay looks absolutely gorgeous, but I’m trying to figure out what kind of trip it’s best for if you only have a few days. If you were planning a first visit, would you stay right on White Beach for the classic Boracay experience, or would you choose somewhere quieter like Diniwid or Puka and just visit White Beach during the day? I’d also love to know whether Boracay feels more like a pure relax-on-the-beach destination, or if there’s enough to do to keep you busy for 4 or 5 days without getting bored.

If it were my first time in Boracay, I’d probably stay near White Beach, at least for part of the trip, because that really is the heart of the island. It gives you the classic Boracay feel with the powdery sand, calm water, sunset views, and easy access to restaurants, cafés, boat tours, and nightlife without needing to think too much about logistics. If you know you prefer a quieter stay, then Diniwid is a great compromise because it feels much more peaceful but still keeps you close to White Beach. Puka Beach, on the other hand, is beautiful but I’d personally treat it more as a beach to visit rather than the area I’d base myself for a first trip.

As for whether there’s enough to do, I’d say Boracay works really well for 4 to 5 days because it can be as active or as lazy as you want it to be. You can easily fill your days with island-hopping, snorkeling, parasailing, sunset paraw sailing, spa time, beach-hopping, and long dinners right by the water, but it’s also one of those places where doing almost nothing still feels like a perfect day.

Thank you! And yes, that first impression of Boracay is hard to beat, it feels bright, easy, and instantly vacation-ready. I’d personally lean toward an island-hopping tour for first-timers because you get more variety in one day (snorkeling spots, smaller beaches, and those “wow” viewpoints). Then, if you still have energy, you can cap the trip with a sunset paraw sail on a different evening for the full Boracay moment. If someone only has one full day on the island, I’d do island hopping in the morning and keep the afternoon simple on White Beach so the day doesn’t feel rushed.

I’d probably start with the hidden coves earlier in the day, then finish with the classic White Beach sunset, because that’s the moment Boracay does best. If you time it right, you get the calm, quieter side first, then the island’s golden-hour “show” later on. Plus, ending with a beachfront dinner makes the whole day feel complete without rushing anywhere.

This was really helpful because Boracay has always looked beautiful, but the practical details you included make it feel much easier to plan. Knowing how simple transportation is with tricycles and that vegetarian options are easy to find definitely takes some stress out of trip planning. I also appreciate the tip about booking tours early during peak season since that can really affect the experience. The mix of relaxation and activities sounds ideal for a beach getaway. Did you find island hopping or just relaxing on White Beach more memorable? And is there a particular time of day you enjoyed most on the island?
