Avila Beach has two distinct seasons; dry summers and cool, foggy, rainy winters. There is very little fluctuation in the overall temperature of the year. If going to the beach is your purpose, then summer is the best time to visit Avila Beach. Otherwise any time of year is great to visit Avila Beach. From May – October, the average temperatures range from the 60s to the low 80s. You will not see a lot of rainfall during this time. So, for beach lovers, summer is perfect to lie down on the sand and enjoy the serene view of the sea. Summer is also peak season for Avila Beach, and lots of activities are held on the beach. Fisherman’s Beach
Fisherman’s Beach is the smallest of beaches in Avila and Port San Luis Harbor and is called “Dog Beach” by the locals. No matter what time of day it is, you will more than likely find dogs running free through the surf. The Port San Luis Harbor District currently allows well behaved dogs to be off the leash anytime on this beach and Olde Port Beach.
Olde Port Beach
Olde Port Beach is a wide sandy cove alongside Avila Beach Drive just west of downtown Avila Beach, CA. This beach is a little calmer than Avila City Beach and less populated, but offers no services and few amenities. A lifeguard and a food truck might be on hand during the summer months. This beach is open to dogs off leash as long as they are under voice control.
Pirate’s Cove Beach
