Looking for Hampton VA hotels? Hampton is located on the Virginia Peninsula in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia. Hampton is a great place to shop, dine and gather with friends. The downtown waterfront district, which encompasses the site of the original 17th century seaport, is filled with restaurants, pubs, art galleries, attractions, shops, marinas and a waterfront park. Find colonial flavor in this restored district of cobblestone streets lined with red brick sidewalks and crepe myrtle trees. The downtown waterfront is totally walkable and charming, so it is worth it to spend some time here visiting the attractions and enjoying the Chesapeake Bay waterfront. Hampton has three unique public beaches offering miles of beautiful waterfront: Buckroe Beach; Grandview Nature Preserve; and Outlook Beach. Stay at Hampton VA hotels and enjoy all the is to offer. Hampton Virginia Weather – When to Visit
The best time to visit Hampton Virginia is from late May to early September, when you’ll experience oceanfront culture in full swing. This is the peak season so the city and beach can get crowded during these months, plus room rates at beachfront hotels are generally higher between Memorial Day and Labor Day. For lower prices and relatively comfortable temps, arrive in spring (from March to mid-May) or fall (between mid-September and November). You can also save some coin if you visit in December, January or February, but you’ll need to bundle up.

Wow, this post was amazing! I love all the detailed information you put in, as well as the order in which it was presented. I like that in the beginning you just focus on giving Hampton VA a good look and a reason for me to care, and then as the post progresses it goes on to more granular details like places to eat and stay, as well as prices for everything.
I’m curious what your own personal experience has been like here? What’s your favorite part of visiting this part of the world? You make it look so peaceful and fun, I’ll definitely have to keep it in mind next time I’m looking for a vacation spot.
Thank you so much for all the valuable information! I really enjoyed reading what you had to offer.
It is a very peaceful place! Virginia just has a great coastline with a lot to offer. I am glad you enjoyed Elijah.
Hi! Great article! It made me wanna visit Virginia and Hampton beach very much. I like that you have a drone video, I love it! We would really love it here along with my friends and family. the waters, sand, and clear skies are so great as well. I am really a great fan of your site because you present us with beautiful destinations that will put us in awe.
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoy your visits to beach travel destinations.
Hi, wow this place looks like there are all kinds of activities to pursue. I have never been to Virginia either or even the East Coast yet. So, the best time is to visit in September. I wonder if there are seasons, like snow, or if it stays too warm to snow? Either way, it looks like a great historical place to visit.
Yes, they do have seasons and they do get snow 🙂 And like you say, there is plenty to see and do no matter when you visit.

Oh no, they definitely have 4 seasons there. Not like some places such as Colorado, but you will get the seasons. September is the best time. Same here in Florida. Especially since most of the tourists are gone 🙂
Now this site was excellent I thought and it had something that almost everybody can’t afford that I like the best because they usually take a lot of money There are so many different things to do I am not much of a beach person that lies around on the beach just soaking up the sun I like to have things to do when I’m out there enjoying the fresh air and the smell of the ocean I like how it said The best times to go are in the spring or the fall I clicked on some different link and it was excellent I saw something about zip-line that I would like to try someday.
So glad you enjoyed Joseph, thanks for visiting beach travel destinations.
Virginia looks like a lovely place to travel to. I love travelling to the States it’s one of my favourite countries to see. I was in New Orleans last year, twice, and absolutely loved it! This is definitely going on my list of places to visit once I’m comfortable flying again.
What would you recommend for places to stay? Something close to the amenities or something a bit more out of the way but within travelling distance?
There are so many beautiful beaches and destination we really are spoiled for choice, the world is full of spectacular countries, I’ve got some planning to do i think!
It’s really personal preference. I prefer to be close to everything, making it easy to get to where I want 🙂 But that’s just me. I am glad you enjoyed my Hampton VA Hotels guide. Thanks for stopping by.
This is such an inspirational article. Every time I read articles about beaches, as summer been my favourites time in the years, something teleported me just there to feel while I am reading. Thank you. Wow, Hampton Virginia Beaches, please keep a warm place for me there, one day I will just go there. As every time we want to book a vacation away from the noisy city, we are looking firstly to the accommodation with breakfast, touristic places and restaurants of course. You have covered everything in this article from the very small print to the bigger, to restaurants. Thank you for this information, I have booked your website. I have no further questions for you, just a recommendation if you have one for us. Thank you so very much.
Thank you Angel for taking the time to leave me comments and for visiting beach travel destinations!
hi, I just can’t help myself coming back for more beach inspiration. The Hampton beaches area in Virginia looks like it is on a smaller more manageable scale than some of the other areas your review here. Though that may just be an impression I get from comparing the drone videos. The hotel prices here also seem to be more affordable than some of the others I have seen. I also like the proximity to the 17th-century seaport. Thanks for the inspiring pictures and review. Best regards, Andy
You are welcome Andy, thanks for taking the time to leave me comments. I am glad you enjoyed my Hampton VA Hotels guide.
Hope you are having a great day, I would like to thank you for this article. It was like a trip back in time for me. My family and I lived in VA for three years back in the late 70’s. And I can remember fondly of my father driving us all to the beach on a hot Saturday morning. Spending the whole day on the beach. The only thing I didn’t like was getting stung by the jelly fish that always seemed to end up in the surf by beach. Boy did those thins hurt when they got you. My wife and I are planning a trip to Nashville, we may just have to stop off in the Hampton eria on our way back to N.Y. state. I will keep this article in mind when looking for a hotel. Thanks for this information as well as the trip back in time. Have a blessed day my friend.
.
I live in Florida and there are plenty of jelly fish in Key West. I have friends who continually want to head there, but I just don’t want to deal with the darn things, lol. Thanks for stopping by John, and taking the time to leave me comments.
Your website is covering some amazing information on beach travel , have got some amazing information on beach travel holidays . This article gives complete understanding of Hampton VA Hotels , Drone video gives some very good feel of the location , your website gives comprehensive information on beach travel which one can use to plan their travel . thanks for sharing .
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for visiting beach travel destinations.
Wow. This looks like an amazing place to spend a few weeks just chilling. A week would even do the trick. Seems like its been years since last went anywhere as exotic as this (even though it’s only really been about three or four years. Hopefully i will do it again soon though.
Yes, you will! I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Beach Travel Destinations.
I’m a big fan of this site so I’m sure you know by now that I’m a big fan of history. This sounds like a place that I want to be and since it’s a 12-hour drive, I wouldn’t have to fly. One thing I would like to ask is about hotels. Are there any right in the beachfront shopping area? I love to be able to walk around and still be close to my hotel.
One thing I could not find in Hampton was a superior hotel on the beach close to shopping. So it makes it hard to recommend one. I might try a B&B or VRBO. I wish I could help more. Thanks for your continued visits to beach travel destinations.
Love your site Leahrae. This post about the Virginia beaches and Hampton Virginia Area Tours & Activities is such a draw. I read another one of yours about Virginia beaches and I am definitely going to make a trip soon.
let’s hope the rates of stay are reasonable in November, because that’s when we will be able to venture out.
Love,
AB
Great Aparna, I am glad you enjoy your visits to beach travel destinations. Thanks for stopping by!
Love the drone video. Looks perfect for a little time off the usual day to day grind. My kids would totally enjoy this – the ocean, sand and great skies. I’m a little concerned though by the extensive real estate. I hope it has little impact on the environment as is usually the case with human activities, especially pollution.
Despite this, still looks like a place worth visiting once in a lifetime. Too bad the pandemic brought lots of uncertainty to everything. Thanks for this informative piece.
You are welcome Steve, glad you enjoyed. Yes, that is happening here too with our beaches. Extensive real estate and hoards of vacationers…all takes a toll on the beauty and the environment.
I loved this article, how it looked and how informative it was. It has made me want to visit Virginia and the Hampton beach very much! A lot of very useful information, thank you! I liked the inclusion of places to eat as well as the beaches and i loved reading about the SUP paddle boarding at sunset on Linkhorn Bay.
Stand up paddleboarding is so much fun. Peaceful, relaxing, fun and a bit of a work out. You would enjoy for sure. Thanks for visiting my Hampton VA Hotels guide.
Truth be told, Leahrae, I no longer can decide which of all the beach destinations you present to choose from. This time you sum them up but the information you provide is as thorough and clear as ever.
Mallorca has always been one of my favourite dream destinations. Maybe I’ll opt for it soon.
Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
You are welcome Antonio, and thanks for continuing to visit beach travel destinations. If you are ever in Florida (Clearwater Beach area) let me know!

Hello there! This is another informative post of yours. Interestingly, I am not far from Virginia. Personally, it’s kind of one of those states that haven’t really stood out to me as a place to travel to. Reading through your post, I feel like I have been living under a rock. Virginia is quite beautiful place to visit especially the beach. The Grandview Nature Preserve looks like the spot that attracts me the most. Fishing and kayaking sound like really fun activities to try there. Thanks for this.
Maybe you have been living under a rock! LOL I am glad you enjoyed Mike. Thanks for stopping by!
