FAQs About the Best Waterproof Cases
Are waterproof cases really waterproof?
Yes — but it depends on the rating. Look for IP67 or IP68 ratings for the best protection. These ratings mean the case can be submerged in water for a limited time without damage.
Can I use my phone’s touchscreen underwater?
Mostly no. While you can tap or swipe through the clear pouch, touchscreens don’t respond well when fully submerged. Instead, use your camera’s timer or volume buttons to take photos.
Do waterproof cases float?
Some do, but not all. If you want your phone to float in the water, choose a pouch-style case that specifically advertises floatation.
Will a waterproof case protect against drops too?
Yes, many do. Rugged options like the Casetify Bounce Extreme offer both waterproofing and drop protection, while slimmer pouch designs focus mainly on water safety.
Which waterproof case is best for everyday use?
If you want an everyday case, go with a durable model like the Casetify Bounce Extreme. For vacations, pools, and water sports, pouch cases from Case-Mate or Pelican are more practical.

What I love about this is that you are able to use your phone. So before getting in the car en route to the beach I can put it in the bag so I know my phone. I know that there are some waterproof phones but you can’t be too careful. Rather than buying a new waterproof phone I would prefer to put my current phone in this bag.
The Seawag is awesome! My son and I both have one that we take to the beach with us. You can use it while in the case, not worry about it, and keep it with you so it doesn’t get taken or ruined from water or sand. Thanks for stopping by and reading about the Waterproof Smartphone Case.
Wow, my deterrent when it comes to waterproof phone cases has been the “Fact” (I thought) that I couldn’t text or answer calls/talk when using it. And that seemed a bit of a hassle to me. But now reading that you CAN do those things with this case … well, that’s a game changer for me. Thanks so much for sharing this, happy I stumbled upon it!
You are very welcome Courtney, and my son and I both have a Seawag. So yes, you can talk, text, take pictures, videos…all of it 🙂 It is great!
I never knew there is a waterproof case that protects the phone so thanks for highlighting this. I heard of phones accidentally being dropped into baths, sinks and toilet bowls. something as simple as buying this which is very inexpensive compared to buying a new phone and saving the hassle of getting back personal details from loved ones and friends without the case. It’s a small price on what you will save in the long run.
Yes, and me and my son both have one. We live close to the beach and we both keep our phones and cards in it. So when we go in the water, no worries about someone running off with something. I have had mine for probably 3 years now, and it is still working great….no holes 🙂 Thanks for reading about the best waterproof smartphone case!
I needed this product today as I had to work outside in the rain and got a good soaking along with my iphone.
This product would be a bit overkill for my needs though, perhaps you could list in the future a budget alternative. One that protects against the rain? That would helpful in case I return to Thailand in the rainy season again.
This one is really fairly inexpensive compared to others that can’t guarantee your phone won’t get wet. I just ordered one at $29.00. I think if you think budget, you might find that it is not waterproof at all.
“I think if you think budget, you might find that it is not waterproof at all.”
Lol, good point!
Ya, been there done that 🙂
A good product idea, however, more smartphones nowadays are being developed and designed to be more waterproof. Sony’s Xperia range are waterproof and dustproof.
However, I don’t think my Xperia can withstand 25 meters.
These are great for those that don’t have a completely waterproof phone. I can take my phone anywhere with me in a water park, at the beach, in the water, etc and I have absolutely no problems 🙂 Thanks for reading!
This looks like a cool product. I like the fact that you can still use it to talk even while it is in the case. It’s one of those products you don’t think you need or that it is necesssary, yet once you have it, you wondered how you got by before. I always like the chance to take pictures so with this I wouldn’t have to miss any opportunity just because there is a chance it could get wet. Cool
I certainly didn’t think I needed one when my son brought one home for me. But you know what? I love it! We have a pool and we go to the waterpark a couple times a week, and then there’s the beaches…now it’s like…what would I do without it? Everyone should have a Seawag!
These cases are awesome! Especially when it comes to travel and accessibility, I could always use a new case that can withstand not only travel, but water also. Between surfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, and just being out and about, I need a case that can hold up. For about $25.00, that is an awesome price. Well worth it.
Well worth it indeed Jessie. I thing the Seawag is a great buy for the protection you get!
This seems like a great product, and I will most definitely be looking into buying the SEAWAG when i next go on holiday!
Never again will I have my Samsung Galaxy S6 get completely ruined because I completely forgot to take it out of my bumbag when I went on a water slide. It was completely ruined!
Thanks for writing a great review!
We have season passes at the water park here and we go quite frequently…my son and I, and we both carry our phones in our Seawag!
Music to my ears, such a great invention and to own a waterproof smartphone case, I now don’t have to buy a waterproof mobile that cost the earth. I think this is a must have for anyone who travels a lot. I’m off to Mexico quite soon so I may well buy one, not only is it waterproof but it hides the fact you’re carrying an expensive mobile.
You will not regret it Sharon, I love this Seawag. My son bought it for me, he was being so sweet….and I thought to myself…what do I need this for? I take it with me to the water park, I keep it with me by our pool, I can carry it around my neck anywhere in the water without any worries!
Hi Lea,
Great review about the waterproof smartphone!
My daughter has bought one very similar to the one in the article. A few days ago she went to an outdoor swimming pool with her girlfriend and from there she called me to tell me that she is with her smartphone in the water. I got angry and told her not to go to the pool with her phone; it could get wet and not work anymore. She started to leaf at me, and she said that she bought a waterproof for her smartphone. I’ve been very surprised how useful this waterproof is. Now that I see it on your article, I would like to buy some of them in different colors for the whole family.
Is there a shipping worldwide?
Thank you very much!
Yes, there is shipping any where and the Seawag is hands down the best on the market. I can tell you this from personal experience. Thanks for visiting my site!
I really love this waterproof case! I think it would be really cool to be able to take pictures and videos underwater with your phone. I also like that it comes with a lanyard because with how big and bulky the case is, it would be so much easier to put it around your neck. I think the price is a really good price as well, seeing that cases can reach up to $60+.
I tell you from personal experience, this is hands down the best case and only one out there that keeps water totally out of the case and allows you to use the phone while in the case. My son and I both have a Seawag, and we both absolutely love them and he is a surfer. Thank you so much for reading!
WOW! Maybe it’s strange to hear, but I didn’t knew they existed. This is awesome! Especially the thing that you can still use it when you put your phone in the case. I love snorkeling when I am on holidays, now I would be able to take my phone with me. I definitely buying that case. Thank you!
You are welcome! And I can personally say that they work great! Thanks for visiting!
I’ve seen things like these before but never really thought twice about one since my other phone was water proof. I recently bought a phone that doesn’t offer a waterproof case so this looks like a good option. I’ve wondered though how they hold up against wear though. Are they pretty tuff to puncture/rip accidently?
I am rough on phones and I have had mine for a while. They are pretty durable. No way to puncture/rip the case unless you are going to also ruin the phone in the process. I just don’t see how I would do this to mine. I love it. My son bought it for me, and I thought hmmm what will I do with this. But it actually has been wonderful to have.
Thanks for sharing this product. Looks like it would be perfect for me. It seems as though if there’s somewhere that my cell phone is not supposed to be that’s exactly where I would put it. Maybe this would save me from myself! It’s amazing what technology can do these days!
Yes, I love the Seawag! I can go anywhere with it and not worry about dropping my phone, or getting it wet!
Pretty awesome! Never thought about something like this! Glad I came across your site! Being a filmmaker this is a great idea for people like me who want to save on some equipment. This could save people from buying an underwater/waterproof camera or even camera housing for their existing camera which ranges from the $100’s to the $1000’s for cases. Our phones are more than capable of shooting decent footage. Wow!! I know most people just want a waterproof phone case. My brain went right towards my filmmaking mind! lol! Thanks for the info on this Seawag waterproof case!
You are very welcome. Everyone in our house has one and I didn’t think it was a big deal. But now, I can take my phone with me to the waterpark with no worries. The Seawag is the best one on the market! Thanks for looking!
Ah, yes – I saw a few of these when I was in Cabo San Lucas in February and wondered what they were and how “legit” they were. Let me tell you … when we went on a whale watching excursion, hit a wave and I got soaked right through with my phone in my pocket, I wished I’d had one! (the one was okay, but I had to act fast!)
Even just being around the family pool and with the kids in the summertime … one slip would = bad news bears. This product would be a huge help!
Keep up the good work!
Kevin
I can tell you they are great. My son and I both have one. He is a surfer and dropped it right into the wave. It went under water, he grabbed it and everything was just fine. Absolutely no water got in the case. You can still use your phone while it is in the case. You can text, call, do anything on your phone while it is in the Seawag. The Seawag is great! I didn’t think I wanted one until my son came home with one for me 🙂
The Seawag water proof cases are the neatest thing. I definitely need to get me one. I can see how they would protect your phone, and they would be great for the beach. Awesome site!
The Seawag works awesome! We take ours to the water park with us so that we have the time and they never get water inside the case.
