Shades On, Day Made
Ultimately, the best men’s sunglasses strike a balance: UV400 protection first, polarization when glare is an issue, and a frame that actually fits your face. Moreover, lens material matters—polycarbonate for durability, nylon for clarity, and glass for crisp optics. Meanwhile, small details like grippy nose pads and spring hinges can make all-day wear a breeze. On the other hand, if you’re mostly city-bound, lighter tints and non-polarized lenses may play nicer with screens.
Next, build a short list: one everyday pair, one sporty option, and one “going-out” frame. Then, try them in real light—step outside, face the sun, and check for hotspots and distortion. In fact, this simple test reveals more than specs on a page. Additionally, confirm return policies, snag a hard case and microfiber cloth, and you’re dialed for summer. As a result, you’ll feel confident in your pick before the season kicks off. Finally, if you’re still deciding, jump back to our Top 5 and Honorable Mentions; in short, your perfect pair is just a scroll away.
FAQs: Best Mens Sunglasses
1) What lenses are best for beach glare?
Go with polarized UV400 lenses. For example, choose grey for true color, or alternatively, brown/amber for extra contrast. As a result, you’ll cut glare and reduce eye strain.
2) How do I match frames to my face shape?
Quick guide: square → round/aviator, round → rectangle/wayfarer, heart → aviator/clubmaster, oval → almost anything. Moreover, matching shape to face keeps your look balanced. Therefore, the best men’s sunglasses both fit well and flatter instantly.
3) Are polarized lenses always better?
Often, yes— especially for driving, fishing, and water. However, note that some screens can look dimmer. In addition, polarization helps reduce fatigue on long days outdoors.
4) What size should I buy?
Generally, start around 52–58 mm lens, 17–20 mm bridge, 140–150 mm temple. Meanwhile, if frames pinch or slide, tweak bridge and temple length. Finally, test fit in natural light before committing.
5) Which materials last longest?
Frames: titanium, stainless, acetate, TR90. Lenses: polycarbonate (impact) or glass (scratch resistance). In fact, polycarbonate is best for sports, while glass is ideal if scratch resistance matters most.
6) Best way to clean and store?
First, rinse lenses with water. Next, use lens cleaner + microfiber. Finally, stash them in a hard case. Moreover, always skip hot dashboards, as heat warps frames.

Gosh, I wasn’t aware there are so many types of sunglasses. You’ve given me a lot information to put towards the next purchase of my sunglasses. Thank you
Habib
I do think the selection is representative of which pairs are of good quality and will last you a lifetime 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Love the look of those Ray-Ban Aviators!!! Top Gun was my favorite movie as a kid and Tom Cruise had me hooked on them from the early on. Glad to see they are scratch resistant too. What I love about them to is if you are on a speed boat, they block the wind nicely!
Yes, I love them too 🙂 I actually have three different styles of Ray Bans 🙂 I guess you could say I am a Ray Banaholic! thanks for visiting Beachtraveldestinations.com.
Hello Leahrae, nice review on the best sunglasses for men. I like the Ray Ban Aviator Metal Polarized Glasses. They are my style, and would look very great on me. Thanks again, and continue to do what you do!!
Great Ahmad, I personally love Ray Bans, and have three pair 🙂 Thanks for reading about the best sunglasses for men and for taking time to leave comments.
I am looking for a pair of new sunglasses for some time now to replace my almost 10 years old pair! Your article definitely gave me a few options to consider. Thanks for that!
I am glad 🙂 Let me know if I can assist you with each of them, if you have any questions that is. I would be glad to help. Thanks for reading about the best sunglasses for men.
I prefer aviator style glasses and have my eye on the Tom Ford Rick Aviator. I do have a couple of questions. Do you know if these are polarized and does the frame have hinges? I love the flexibility that hinges provide and for me polarized glasses are a must. Of course these are on the higher end as far as price goes, so I will have to think about that. I am definitely willing to spend the money on a great pair of glasses that will last a long time.
I love the aviator style myself. I have a pair of aviator Raybans and love them. I can tell you that they are polarized. That is the only kind I would recommend for the sunshine 🙂 And yes, they do have hinges on them, so you will have that flexibility with them. I have had my Raybans for about 7 years now…well actually I have 3 different pairs I love them so much! A good pair of sunglasses is so worth it. I think just what you see, as opposed to what you see thru a cheap pair….far superior. Thanks for reading!
4 leading brands which really look cool. I still have a pair of Raybans which I bought around 20 years ago and they still wouldn’t be out of place in today’s fashion.
It just so happens I am currently looking for a new pair and I love the designs that your article reviews so they may well be on my wishlist, although we in the UK aren’t blessed with beautiful sunshine like you are in the US.
Great article, thanks
Great Mick, I hope you found just the perfect pair for yourself. I have 3 pairs of Raybans myself 🙂 Love em! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a review!
I need to buy Tom Ford sunglasses! I like that shape!
I have Tom Ford perfume, it’s perfect!
Thank you for this post!

Hi – thanks for putting all this together sunglasses are a must in the summer. I have several pairs! I wish you had a picture with each description so I could get a better visual!
Yes, I do need to fix that and get a picture in there for each one. Thanks for letting me know! And, thanks for reading about the best sunglasses for men.
Hi there,
I need a good pair of sunglasses for the summer since I am often hanging out on the beach with my kids:) I really like the Smith Optic sunglasses. I would like to know if these are polarized or not? That would be perfect for me!
Thank you for this excellent post!
Yes Daniella, they are polarized. This is the only kind to wear out in the sun, especially at the beach or in the water 🙂 Thank you for reading about the best sunglasses for men 🙂
I don’t wear sunglasses except for driving. My eye often got sore and tired from the glare. Seems like a good idea to get one for outdoor purpose. But only problem is whether it fits over my existing glasses as my eyesight is pretty bad without glasses. That’s always my problem with sunglasses.
My son has the same problem, so we just went ahead and got him a pair of prescription Ray Bans and he loves them!
I don’t really wear sunglasses except when driving. My eyes get tired easily when exposed to glaring sunlight. Perhaps I should consider getting one. I think it’s worth the cost if it can prevent soreness to my eye from the sunlight. The only problem is I’m already wearing a glasses and I don’t think this will fit in on top of my existing glasses.
I had Oakley before there good but now I’m looking for some other brands like Maui Jim Ray Ban or Fendi. What is your opinion about this brands? I am looking for all the informations before buying it. There not that cheap but I think you must get the best protection for your precious eyes
Yes, and I wear Ray Bans simply because I love the style and I love the eye protection. To me, the extra cost is worth it. I have a cheap pair for when I go to the waterpark with my son and I notice the difference!
Thank you for the awesome review on the glasses. It is so hard to find a pair that can take the day-to-day abuse and work and look great. The customer ratings is a major plus too. I am definately going to look at these in the near future as it is about time to replace the pair I have. Maybe even a pair for my wife will be in order, so we are styling together. 🙂
That’s right! Gotta look good together and these are great sunglasses!
Hello
I was looking for a pair of sun glasses and I came by your review of the Oakley, I really need them for work, you see I work a lot outside and sun sometimes eats my brain and really hurt my eyes!
You think these will be tough enough? I mean if they will get scratches easily or would break at the first time they fall?
Looking forward to your input.
Ruben
Hi Ruben, These are actually great glasses and do not break easy. Scratch resistant yes, but of course any pair will scratch if you totally rub them up against something sharp. Cheap sunglasses of course will not stand up to the wear and tear that these can!
I was wondering to buy this certain sunglasses before I read this review, I really like that you wrote all pros of them, and gave ratings of another people on amazon. Thanks to it I have finally decided to buy this sunglasses. I am waiting for delivery, but I read that amazon does it very quickly, so I can’t wait to show off a little on the beach 🙂
That’s right! Excellent choice 🙂
