Skopelos sounds like such a peaceful Greek island escape, especially compared to places like Santorini or Mykonos. I really like destinations where the focus is more on nature, quiet beaches, and local food rather than nightlife. Kastani Beach must be fun to see in person after being featured in Mamma Mia. If someone were visiting Skopelos for the first time, would you recommend staying closer to Skopelos Town or near one of the beach areas?
For a first visit, staying near Skopelos Town is usually the easiest option because it gives you quick access to restaurants, shops, and the harbor. The town also has a beautiful traditional atmosphere with narrow streets and great sunset views. From there, it’s easy to explore different beaches around the island during the day, since many are just a short drive away. That way you can enjoy the island’s quieter beaches while still having the convenience and charm of the main town in the evening.
I can´t stop looking at those photos! Greece really has paradisiac veiws and the culture is something I am really up to. Kastani Beach seems to be the pretiest of all, but if I had to choose one, which one would you recommend? Also, Aegean Hotel looks really nice, but is it near to all the activities you mention in the artcile? I´m not into renting a car you know..
Definitely Hovolo Beach. I like a quieter beach, so that is my top choice. The Aegean Hotel is located very close to the beach, and restaurants. It’s in an area where there are many hotels, so you will find plenty of things close by. If you click on the hotel link, there is a map of where the hotel is located. So, you can see how close to everything it is.
Too often beaches are spoiled by being made too commercial. By that I mean there are stretches of hotels, bars, beach paraphernalia, beach activities and of course loads of people. There is something very attractive about a beach like Skopelos that is much more serene, has a natural allure, and is not built up. I liked the beachfront proximity of Adrina but prefer the Skopelos Village hotel as it is close to both the beach and the village so I can get a dual experience. And with a 9.7 review rating, I could not want better than that!
I know all about what you are talking about. I live by the #1 beach in the U.S. and it is so over commercialized, populated, crowded, etc. I drive down the road for my day at the beach.

I have been researching about the city of Skopelos before going. And I would like to share with you all what I have found interesting. If you like archeology stuff, Skopelos has more than a hundred churches. The earliest ones date back to the 9th century. In the port of Skopelos, there was in ancient times a temple of Athena and now there is a Venetian fortress. There are numerous monasteries all over the island.
Yes, I knew about the churches. There is certainly a lot to see and do in Skopelos, besides just visiting the beaches. Definitely a 2-week vacation time frame to see and do everything that interests you.
I just finished reading your review on Rhodes and all its surrounding attractions and I was impressed! Now I read your article on Skopelos and I immediately say wow! The two locations would make a supreme luxury holiday that would have lasting memories. This area is a perfect hideaway off the beaten path but still really not that far away.
