The 10 Best Hotels in Corralejo

Despite the influx of tourists, this former fishing village near the harbor and the main beach at Corralejo still have charm.  You’ll find narrow, uneven streets, good seafood restaurants and even a fisherman’s cottage or two.  Wonder inland a couple of blocks and you will find the predictable resort fare of fish & chips on a grid system of streets.

Corralejo’s real allure is the miles of sand dunes to the south of town, sweeping back into gentle sugar-loaf rolls from the sea and fabulous broad sandy beaches. Protected as the Parque Natural de Corralejo, no one can build on or near them (though a couple of concrete eyesores from the Riu hotel chain managed to get here before the regulation was in place).

You can find more information on all the great Corralejo beaches here.

I’m more excited about Spain now than I ever was. Looks like you have an article on California beaches too which I’m about the check out now since I have been there but now I’m curious if I had missed something good. Thanks for the awesome info.

Hey Leahrae, what a beautiful beach there hey, thank you so much for you complete and very useful information, the Canary Islands is one of those places I have been looking into visiting. So I was glad to find the information on Fuerteventura and Corralejo. They certainly have a lot to offer with the wide variety of beaches and things to do. This will be the perfect spot for a honeymoon! Even though I have heard of the Canary Islands and it is where I want to travel to next, I am curious exactly where it is? I was thinking it was part of Europe? Thanks for the insights of the hotels with the price as well , so helpful.

You will enjoy Elbert and you will also find that Corralejo and anywhere in the Canary Islands really, is very economical vacation wise. Compared to other beautiful beach destinations, it can’t be beat. Yes, The Canary Islands are right off the coast of Africa, but belong to Spain. But you will find a very German community there, so in some areas the signs are in Spanish and in German. Its where all the German snowbirds go. Heck, I have family there, and that is how I fell in love with the Canary Islands.

You are welcome Mia and of course any time of year is great to go and there are not the normal crowds there, anytime of year. This is a hidden gem that you can visit anytime. I think that October, when I visited is a great time, because it is still warm and beautiful and the beaches are not very busy at all. Less so than the rest of the year.

I never realized how big and beautiful the world could be, living on an island in Canada it is nothing compared to some of the places that I want to visit some day, A beach such as this would awesome to travel to with my girlfriend, maybe one day I will get an opportunity to take a trip to a place like this. It can get pretty cold in Canada in the winter and we were looking for a nice warm beach to enjoy. Is it warm in Corralejo during the winter months?

It is absolutely beautiful Todd, and when Canada is cold, Corralejo is always warm. The Canary Islands are one of those places that everyone needs to visit. So, yes when it is cold in Canada, you will find nice warm sunshine at Corralejo beaches.

Hi, thanks for the information on Corralejo Beach. It’s just what I’ve been looking for. Your website is one of the few places where you can find detailed information on everything from travel to restaurants. My wife and I are planning a trip to Fuerteventura and have been looking at options. This place sounds ideal and I like how it doesn’t sound too crowded unlike some of the places we have been to in the Canaries. Would you recommend going all inclusive though because we have had some bad experiences doing this before with the food not being that great.

It is actually not pricey to visit the Canaries. The food, drinks and hotel are REALLY reasonable. The most expensive item is going to be the airfare. And I have that on airwatchdog.com for deals. You and your family would really enjoy it! Thanks for visiting!
