McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary, West Palm Beach Florida, West Palm Beach Vacatios, West Palm Beach beaches, Florida BeachesMcCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary

This year, McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary has treated hundreds of native animals that were sick or injured. Everything from foxes to bobcats, Sandhill Cranes to pelicans, hawks, owls, and many others have received veterinarian care by our staff and then were released back into the wild. Without the support of our volunteers and members, it would be impossible to continue the work for this valuable cause.  Many of the exotic animals have been donated to us by wildlife officers who confiscated these innocent creatures from the previous owners because of neglect, abuse, or illegal possession. Some were pets that owners could no longer care for and felt McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary would provide the animals a safe haven.  With over 170 permanent resident animals at the sanctuary, the cost of housing these magnificent creatures is staggering.   All of their funding comes from the community and, in return, they provide an excellent educational program that is thrilling and informative.  For more information call 561-790-2116 or visit McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary.

SoFlo Flyboarding, West Palm Beach Florida, West Palm Beach Vacatios, West Palm Beach beaches, Florida BeachesSoFlo Flyboarding

The Flyboarder in general, controls everything about the Flyboard except how much power it’s receiving. The power portion of the experience is controlled by a certified instructor on the jet ski. However, regardless of the power, the user strongly controls his/her height by how they shift the board and indefinitely control their direction by how they balance the board. It should be noted that based on the logistics of this, the jet ski itself is powerless as all the power is pushed through the Flyboard.  Since the power is all pushed through the Flyboard, the Flyboarder is in control of direction of the jet ski because it is towed behind in the direction the Flyboarder is flying.  For more information call 561-870-0057 or visit SoFlo Flyboarding.

  1. Andrea

Yeah, Florida! I was thinking about somewhere to go to escape the harsh Canadian winters and this seems like the perfect getaway.
I can see that West Palm Beach is great for families, couples and independent travellers, which makes it a very attractive destination indeed.

    Thanks for the review!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

You are very welcome Andrea. Yes, West Palm Beach has a little bit for everyone in the family. A great family beach vacation destination for sure!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Thank you so much Grant…yes to have enough to just travel to all the beautiful places would be great. Cocoa Beach is wonderful though, I have been here 🙂

  3. ArtByHeart

Hi, love this review, loads of good info! It seems like an ideal destination for a large family where some prefer beach, few are adrenalin junkies loving adventures and others to explore nearby sights and culture only spending few hours soaking up the rays. We all love tasting new foods though, seems plenty around. I was wondering if you know the likelyhood of any veggie friendly restaurants, since part of my family eats no meat or seafood!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

There are several vegan restaurants. The best would be Queen of Sheeba, Darbster, and The Chickpea. All wonderful choices. Thanks for reading about West Palm Beach, Florida!

  4. Elisa

I’ve got friends down in Florida who keep asking us to visit. I wonder if even they know about all of these great places you have listed. Nice!

A daily average of 86 degrees! That is torture when right now outside my house it is below zero!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

I tell you what, there are so many places in Florida. And so many people don’t venture out to see it all. Absolutely love Florida beaches!

  5. Furkan

Hi West Palm Beach looks amazing and I really want to try Sunset Bar & Grill, do you know they can prepare special meals for allergen people. It sucks for me to have this problem, but there is nothing I can do about it. If they can prepare , I would love to eat there.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

I am not sure which allergies you have, but I am sure they can be flexible for you 🙂 I think you would enjoy visiting! Thanks Furkan.

  6. Brent

I do a lot of traveling with my work and last year I must have been down to Florida 10-15 times!! But never to Palm Beach. Boca Raton, Miami, OrlandoX4 but I always just drove by your fine city!!

My life is always a vacation so I never have to take one, but I would love to stay around and visit Palm Beach this year(I am sure I will at some point) to see all the wonderful things you mentioned in this article.

I must say that you certainly have covered all the bases, so to speak, about Palm Beach. Its almost like you work for the Visitors Bureau or something!! Great post!!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Thank you so much Brent 🙂 Just a passion of mine. Glad you enjoyed!

  7. Cris Santos

That is wonderful article. It definitely would help people a lot in finding a nice beach resort for vacation. You even made it easier for everybody to find a comfortable package deal for a cheaper price. In addition to it there are some extra tip that can help people to enjoy more of their vacation such as be flexible on schedule and plan it in advance. I have noticed that most of your article are about beaches around the USA, how about somewhere around Asia? I came from the east side that is how I know that there are also nice resort there to explore and maybe you might want also to include in your website. Anyway, Thank you , especially for those help tips.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

I do plan on doing Asia. I plan on doing beaches through the world. I just started with beaches that are familiar to me. I am getting there 🙂 Thanks for visit West Palm Beach Vacations!

  8. Wendy

    Hi Leahrae.

Thank you for a very informative article. It looks like you’ve pretty much covered everything – beaches, hotels, food/beverages, and places of interest.

Have you ever taken an air boat ride? I’d be interested in seeing the alligators but not up close and personal. I’d be worried about falling off. Do they have seat belts or something similar?

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

The airboat operators take safety seriously. There are not seat belts but there is protection all around the boat. You will not fall off unless you were to climb over the railing. I think you would really enjoy this! It is safe, and pretty cool too! West Palm Beach has lots of great things to see and do if you are not feeling the airboat is the way to go 😀 Thank you Wendy for reading West Palm Beach Vacations.

  9. Emma

Florida sounds like a great holiday destination! Especially when you mention animals 😉 Every holiday destination for me is where there are animals, beaches and sun!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Then you will love the West Palm Beach area Emma 🙂 Besides having wonderful beaches, West Palm Beach has a lot to offer. Hope you make it here soon!

  10. Chris

Hi Leahrae. Thank you so much for the wonderful info. We are taking a trip to Boca this Spring to visit relatives, and are looking for other areas of FL. to explore. West Palm looks like a beautiful place with lots to do, so we may have to consider stopping here.

Do you have a personal favorite place in Florida?

    Thanks for your help!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

My all time favorite place Chris is St Pete Beach. I love the atmosphere, the people, and pretty much everything about the place. So much so that I am moving there in just a few short months 🙂

  11. Ben

Wow! I always wanted to visit Florida. I knew it was warm there, but I didn’t know that it didn’t get cold in the winter! The average in January is more than 57 degrees, that’s really great! And thank you for telling me about Airfare Watchdog, I must use it from now on!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Yes, Airfare Watchdog is really a great tool. I use it year round to keep me updated on a few locations. Then I know when to go. I can spend the entire day at the beach even in the winter. As you are right, it never really gets cold. The water on the East coast, as opposed to say St. Pete or Clearwater is going to be a bit chillier in the winter though.
