Treasure Island Weather – When to Visit
The best time to visit Treasure Island is from March to May, when the weather is comfortably hot and there’s a ton of outdoor events. You’ll find more affordable room rates from June to November, but there is the threat of hurricanes, and the weather can often be scorching. The temperature cools down significantly for the winter months. Treasure Island is great to visit year-round but it’s particularly pleasant in the springtime when the temperatures range from the lower 60s to the mid-80s. The increase in outdoor festivities and the blooming purple jacaranda trees make the visit worth it. June to November is hurricane season and average temperatures in Treasure Island during these months range from the mid-60s to the high 80s. July and August are the hottest months and rainfall is most frequent in the month of August. Though the heat and threat of hurricanes may dissuade you, there are a few upsides to a trip at this time: bargain rates and plenty of events and festivals. It is a little chillier in the winter months with average temperatures in the mid-50s and mid-70s. The sun shines nonetheless and manatee sightings are frequent.
Best Treasure Island Area Beaches
Sunset Beach is a beach lover’s community straight out of a Buffett song. This neighborhood welcomes guests of all lifestyles with open arms and is especially popular with the local LGBT community. On Sunset Beach you will find uniquely decorated houses, tiki huts, white sands and beachfront bars where bohemian attitudes prevail. Showers and pavilion also available.
Treasure Island Beach
Treasure Island is a big, wide community beach that has better shells than most beaches. But you’ll need to get there early for the best ones. There are three public boat ramps and a marina available. Head to this beach on weekdays for a quieter scene.
Upham has 4 wooden dune walkovers that lead to a very wide, white sandy beach. A short walk north takes you to Blind Pass, which has a rock jetty. This is a great place to watch the sunset. Dolphins often make an appearance and I’ve seen them put on quite a show of jumping out of the water.
Archibald Memorial Beach Park
Archibald offers metered parking spots directly by the beach with four wooden walkovers, public restrooms, two outdoor shower areas, covered picnic area, and two sand beach volleyball courts. Located on site, The Snack Shak provides beach goers a great opportunity to grab a meal or pick up a beverage to enjoy on the beach.
Madeira (“Mad”) Beach is a popular area option because it’s adjacent to John’s Pass Village Boardwalk, a family-friendly dining and shopping hub. Madeira Beach is the cleanest public beach in the area, and offers a quieter alternative to the more populated beaches. Find beautiful, soft, white sand and turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, sunning, beach combing, diving, jet skiing, parasailing and other water sports.
