The Best Todos Santos Hotels

Looking for The Best Todos Santos Hotels?  One can enjoy some of the most pristine, un-populated beaches in Baja in the vicinity of Todos Santos. Near town one can find beaches for camping, surfing, swimming, skim boarding and surf fishing. Some say that some of the most isolated and beautiful beaches in all Baja are to be found right here.

In general, beaches near Todos Santos are accessible.  Beaches are without lifeguards or comfort facilities, with the exception of Playa los Cerritos which has a restaurant on the beach.  All beaches are perfect for strolling, sunbathing, surf fishing, and whale watching.  Watch for surf conditions before swimming as winter surf can create hazardously large waves that are a challenge to get in and out of.  There are sea lion rookeries on area rocky outcroppings, so please keep your distance from them.  Go here for Todos Santos beach locations and information on each beach.  Todos Santos travel is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the area beaches and the tranquility of the area.

Todos Santos Weather – When to Visit

The best time to visit Todos Santos is from May to June, when the wintertime crowds have gone home and the summertime storms have yet to hit. October and November are also nice months for a vacation, but you’ll need to begin your hotel search early if you want to save money. It could be that your motivation for visiting is not the beach: If you’re into whale watching, plan to visit between mid-December and mid-April. If you like to fish, look to come in the late summer or fall. Keep in mind: Pacific hurricane season runs from mid-May to November. Though Todos Santos typically only experiences tropical storms during the hurricane season, the city has seen hurricanes make landfall in the region, most notably Hurricane Odile in 2014.

Formerly called Playa El Estero, this popular surfing beach is called El Pescadero or Playa Pescador. This beach is not a good swimming spot, mainly beaause of the razor sharp sea urchins that are scattered all over the ocean floor. There is a small fishing village located a short distance from the beach. During December thru March, one may even catch whales swimming offshore. Camping is available.

Located about 5 miles north of Todos Santos, take the road past The Todos Santos Inn, in Topete. The road goes down a little hill, then up again. When you get to the top of the hill, turn left towards the ocean. La Pastora is not very safe for swimming, mainly because the currents and waves get big here; often, waves can reach up to 15 foot or more. It may not be good for swimming, but it is an excellent big wave break for surfers.

Punta Lobos Beach is a great just for the fact that a rock point protects the beach from incoming waves. The water is deeper than at other beaches, quickly becoming waist deep, then shoulder deep, so it’s a lot easier to swim than at Los Cerritos where you’ll wading in shallow water and pummeled by incoming waves regularly.

    Hi Leahrae!

Todos Santos’ beaches are very beautiful and seem a very quiet place to go and relax. After reading this and seeing all the photos, I want to go on vacations already! But Mexico is a bit far away from where I live, so for the moment I will have to go the beaches in my country, Argentina (maybe you can write a post about them someday? :).)

What I found most interesting is whale watching. I hope some day I get to experience that. Have you ever watched whales at a beach like the ones on Todos Santos?

    Best,

    Mariana

I have watched the whales there.  I took a whale watching cruise and I can tell you that their breath stinks and touching there skin is very rough!  Awesome experience.  Yes, I do need to do the beautiful beaches of Argentina 🙂

    HI,

This place looks pretty nice. Beach holidays are not normally my thing, as I get bored sitting around on the beach. However, I have always wanted to swim with whale sharks and I love kayaking and snorkelling. I like the look of Guaycura Boutique Hotel, Beach Club & Spa. How severe is hurricane season in September? This is the only time I can travel due to work.

So the Baja Mexico does not normally get hit with Hurricanes.  They get tropical storms.  I have been there at least 10 times, some during that time and all I have every had was beautiful weather with occasional rain – very occasional.  I think you would be find and there is so much to do.  I love the beach, but laying around at the beach day after day is way too boring.  I love to explore.  Thanks for stopping by.

This place looks simply stunning and I had no idea it even existed! Thank you so much for writing this article and drawing my attention to Todos Santos. It really looks like there is so much to do, and whether you are going as a vacation with your spouse or the whole family, there is something for everyone.

The accommodations look incredible and the food recommendations you made look so fresh! I’ll have to put this on my list of possible getaway places! How long would you recommend a stay here be?

Todos Santos is a really great beach destination.  Especially if you don’t want the crowds of Cabo, and a little easier on the budget.  I have been several times.  For me, two weeks is the minimum.  I figure two days for travel, and then the rest for relaxation and exploring.  You’ll find the two weeks will fly by.

    Hi Leahrae,

Just the look of the beach picture made me want to go there for vacation already!

When it comes to travel destination, If you can post more pictures of the beach, the suroundings, the lifestyles, that would be better. One picture is just not enough.

The restaurant, bars and hotel, on the other hand, can you share more pictures, and bigger ones? I had to zoom in just to look at them. Some pictures about their best cocktails and food will definitely make me drool!

Anyway, thank you for introducing such nice beach side to my attention. I guess I found my next vacation destination already! Cheers! =)

Wow, you really put in the work to give your readers a full spectrum of activities of the Todos Santos beaches and the surrounding area. This is a very formal article, have you gone there, and if so, what was your experience like?

It is really awesome that you compile all of these places together with a wide range of things to do. I would have to visit Todos Santos in November or December, as the hot and muggy is too much for me.

Actually November and December are perfect months to go.  And yes, I have been many many times and love it there.  I love anywhere along the Baja actually.  I guess I like the atmosphere, the culture and of course the food 🙂

I love beaches and I would love to travel to enjoy not only the beaches but also the sceneries.

Todos Santos seems like a good place to visit but I wouldn’t want to go there during the summer seasons as it would be too hot. Must be great to spend the Christmas holidays there. I also want to try some special Mexican foods, other than tacos.

By the way, I’m from Asia and I am just wondering what’s the most convenient way to visit Todos Santos and how many days will be stamped on my passport.

Yes, you would love Todos Santos.  I would say to stay at least a week.  They stamp your passport upon arrival, but I am not sure on departure, but I don’t believe I have ever had mine stamped when I leave.  It might different for you though.  Thanks for reading 🙂

Thank you for your post. I love the beach. I currently live in Destin, FL and I go to the beach as often as I can. Great use of hotel information. I work at a hotel so I can really understand all the great information that is there. It is important to let people know that you can get some good deals if you know where to look and the questions to ask. Awesome!

I live at Clearwater Beach, so I know about going to the beach as often as possible  🙂  I also love the Baja, and Todos Santos is a very nice alternative to the crowded Cabo.  Please let me know if you need any other information.  Thanks for visiting!

What a fantastic article. My husband are thinking about taking a holiday next year and this sounds like a perfect destination to experience another culture. You say that the closest airport is Los Cabos International Airport, but which airport would we be best to fly into to get to the US? We would be coming from NZ. Thanks so much, Cheers, Karen

You would still fly into Los Cabos 🙂  That is the hub of the Baja, and all flights going to the Baja go to Los Cabos.  It is actually pretty reasonable to fly in and out of.  You would absolutely love the area.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Your post made me feel like traveling to Mexico right now! 🙂
Todos Santos seems to be the kind of place my family and I would like: laid back, sunny and surf friendly!
I’ll definitely think about including it in our next travel plans and – of course – will make sure to pay attention to the car rental details.
I’m assuming public transportation is not a good option. Am I right?
    Thanks!

Yes, Todos Santos is very laid back and friendly!  Yes, there is actually ample public transportation that is safe and economical.  You can also take a taxi anywhere for a set fee.  No surprises when you go to pay your fare, which is nice.  I rented a car one time, the rest (too many too count) I just used taxis and buses.

I absolutely love Mexico! One of my favorite places to go to the beach (besides Hawaii) because of its carefree feel. I have never been here (only been to Cancun and family has been to Cabo) but I was wondering if Todos Santos is on the side of the Gulf or the Pacific? Also, have you heard anything about which is the best restaurant to eat there?

Thank you for all of your feedback!

Ok, Todos Santos is a very short drive from Cabo which is on the southern most tip of the Baja.  I love it here too for the laid back feel.  What I have listed for restaurants, those are definitely the best of the best.  Stick to them and you won’t go wrong!

This looks like a beautiful place to visit and it does not look like a place overly crowded with tourists. It would be a great place to spend a relaxing quiet vacation in the sun by the sea. Seems like a place definitely worth checking out for some quality R and R.

You are right on both accounts.  It is a great little place to vacation, and it is not overly crowded.  Go down the highway to Cabo for the crowds.  I prefer it here, it’s serene and beautiful.  You would definitely enjoy Todos Santos beaches!
