Palawan Weather – When to Visit

The majority of your activities in Palawan are highly dependent on the weather because they’re located outdoors. That’s why it’s best to plan your trip around the dry months in the Philippines, from November to May. The warmest months are from March to April, the summer season in the Philippines. Palawan tours, especially the underground river tour and island-hopping tours, are best maximized during these months. This is also the peak season, so it’s highly recommended to book your tours in advance during the summer season. You can expect a warm tropical climate almost all year round in Palawan, except in the rainy season, usually around July to September. The month with the most rainfall is during September. The warmest months are from March to April, with temperatures reaching 91°F. The month with the lowest degrees are from November to February with an average temperature of 73°F but is still dry.

What to Pack

If you plan to do physically-demanding activities like trekking or extreme sports, make sure that you pack the right gear. Some accommodations in Palawan, like El Nido, don’t have electricity 24/7, so bring flashlights with you. San Vicente is particularly notorious for sand flies or small mosquitoes during night time, mainly near the beach, so make sure to pack insect repellant.

The clear blue water and sky, green trees, and white sand made my day and I definitely looking forward to visiting the Philippines and especially Palawan Island full of biodiversity. These islands are part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites means they are preserved from external forces to maintain their scenic beauty. My checklist is included the underground river tour and island hopping along with other activities.  The 5 miles long long beach and seven commandos beach are my personal favorite.

Hi and thanks for sharing this little slice of Philippine paradise. I have never been to the Philippines but this place would definitely be on my list. The information you provided on the weather sounds to be very important choosing a time to go. The rainy season sounds like it sounds be avoided. I have to say, I am curious to know how the Seven Commandos beach got its name? Thanks and best regards, Andy

Its long sloping stretch of fine sand and coconut trees welcome the guests after a long day of island hopping. It is yet to be confirmed how the beach got its name, but one consistent story is that of the seven soldiers who got stranded here during WWII.  Hope that answers your question 🙂

Okay, let me jump online and book my ticked that Nacpan beach has my name written all over it. Being from the Caribbean I am accustomed to beautiful beaches however the beaches of the Philippines look like they can give us very good competition. Not so much in love with the sand critters and long hikes but the turquoise colour of the water, long stretches of sandy beach and near-complete privacy is my kind of living.

Another nice review where many holidaymakers can get inspiration. Who doesn’t dream of pearly white beaches, clear blue skies, beautiful palm trees, and cocktails?

The helpful tips that you provide, such as the various beaches, different places to visit, the best time to go, what to bring, etc. are an added value.

And of course, the beautiful photos are really an eye-opener!

Everything is discussed: tours, restaurants, bars, clubs, … What more could a person want? Just print this page in its entirety and take it with you when you go.

    Very nice work!

Hi, this destination looks so beautiful to visit for spending a pleasant time there. The white sand, the blue water, and everything that this nature’s island offers are attractive. This article comes in the right moment to plan for coming April, which seems to be the best time to visit it.
Also, I like that We can personalize the day activities with local guide tours from three to seven days packages. All the beaches are beautiful, but the Seven Commandos Beach is the one I like to be.

Thank you for sharing all this valuable information.

I love the video of this beautiful location and I’m dying to go if just to take the underwater river tour!  I’d also like to try te 7-Day Palawan Tour, as the price is well worth the all-inclusive vacation.  I have stayed in places that don’t have ’round the clock power and it’s actually nice.  No distractions or noise associated with motors or electronics.  Thank for posting!

Wow – it looks like there are so many beautiful natural pools to explore in Palawan Philippines.

Thanks for the tip to plan for the seasonal weather, as it would be very disappointing to have beach trips rained out by weeks of rain! It’s very helpful to get this kind of practical travel advice — especially that there may not be power available around the clock and that taking insect repellant is a must!

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Yes, insect repellent is a must!  I hate sand fleas, and we do have them here on Clearwater Beach certain times of the year.  So repellent does help to make the beach day enjoyable.  Thanks for visiting beach travel destinations.

The Philippines is such a beautiful country. I didn’t know that it has such beautiful beaches. My friends and I were discussing plans for December and did not even consider the Philippines. But after seeing this, I will definitely recommend it to them and hear what they have to say. Thank you for such an informative article.

The Philippines have been on my bucket list for a very long time, and reading this post on Palawan, is making it a lot easier for me to plan a holiday. The under river tour and island hopping sounds amazing, but does one have to do that as a private tour, or can one do it independently?

Thank you for the tips on sand flies and mosquitoes, and that El Nido doesn’t have electricity 24/7.

I plan on visiting the Philippines en route to Australia, so do you think a week would be long enough?

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

You could have an amazing time in a week for sure.  I would not recommend doing the under water tour or island hopping independently.  You’ll miss out on so much.  The tours are worth the money.  Please let me know how your trip goes.  Sounds fantastic to head to Palawan and Australia in one trip!

The Philippines is such a beautiful place. From what I have been researching, one of the most popular tours is to El Nido. And Seven Commandos Beach is the best part of the tour. I would love to see the Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon. Thank you very much for this outline of places to visit.
