The Most Amazing Lampedusa Sicily Hotels

The Most Amazing Lampedusa Sicily hotels are wonderful. Lampedusa is one of the most frequented destinations for sun worshippers, scuba divers and nature lovers, and it is the last bit of Italian terrain before the African coast. Lampedusa is a wonderful sun-bleached island south of Sicily, part of the Pelagian Archipelago, along with neighboring island Linosa and the Scoglio (a tiny boulder of an island) known as Lampione.  In the eastern and southeastern shores, you’ll find beautiful sandy beaches, from the smallest and most hidden to the largest and most crowded. And they are numerous and welcoming.

Be sure to visit Rabbit Island, one of the prettiest beaches is on the Island and is protected, given its loggerhead sea turtle population that lays its eggs here. Watching the loggerhead sea turtles is absolutely captivating. The island can be reached even by non-swimmers, as it is only 328 feet from the Lampedusa coast, over a stretch of water just a little over 3 meters deep. Attempt to get to the other side of Rabbit Island if you want to spot its submerged natural arch, colonized by orange Madre pores, colorful sponges, red shrimp, and rockfish and moray eel burrows.

During the hottest nights of the summer, make sure to attend some of the many celebrations that take place on the island’s beaches, including bonfires, spaghetti cookouts, barbecues, and musical performances.  You can check out all the Best Beaches of Italy here, or head to our Pinterest site for some beautiful pictures.

Lampedusa Weather – When to Visit

The best time to visit Lampedusa is during spring and fall, when temperatures are comfortable and there are fewer crowds. The scenery is vibrant, prices are lower, and the weather is ideal for exploring all the country has to offer. Temperatures start to warm up in spring, with temperatures in the mid-seventies.

The summer months, (July and August), see higher temperatures — normally around 81°F, but they they can reach 88°F at the height of the day. This time if year is the busiest time to visit Lampedusa. Many Italians take the whole month of August off and escape the humidity, with lots of businesses closing during this time. However, this does mean the cities are much quieter, so you still have the chance to explore.

Temperatures cool down gradually in the fall and September is still very pleasant, with average temperatures of 77°F. Expect crisp fall leaves and some sunnier days, but plan for wet weather too. Some attractions introduce shorter winter hours from October on, so be mindful of this when booking.

I’m a beach lover. Every year at least once I have to go for a holiday to the beach. I have been to Italy, but not to the beach. Sicily looks amazing, especially the crystal clear water. The turtle island must be fascinating. I would definitely love to see that. Thank you for the great tip for a summer holiday. The snorkeling tour sounds good to me.

What a beautiful place to visit and I never realized that it was so close to Africa. Lampedusa seems to have that tranquil ocean setting where you can spend days just swimming, eating, and laughing in the turquoise water. The hotel Medusa looks lovely. A perfect stately building with views to the ocean set in the inner town, close to restaurants, tours, and activities.

Yeah, those Lampedusa beaches look so beautiful. I mean, they feel like such a cool place to be at and to visit. Can’t wait for something like the Spiaggia dei Conigli or Sciatu Persu.

As far as food goes, Bar dell’Amicizia sounds like my kind of place. I’m always down for a great dessert. Kids will probably love that aspect about the restaurant, too. Of all the beaches, which one would you prefer to visit with kids? Do you happen to know if diving is also available for kids (Museo Atlantico Diving Tour)?

Plus, duly noted. I will visit in either autumn or fall. 🙂

Yes, kids can dive too.  I am not sure of the age restriction or how old yours are, but you all can enjoy Lampedusa diving 🙂

    Hey, Leahrae,

The beaches look amazing, especially Spiaggia dei Conigli. It looks like a Mexican beach called Balandra in Baja California.

I could easily spend the whole day there. If I understood correctly, this beach is not too touristy, right? I prefer to stay away from the crowds as much as possible.

I’ll definitely add this to my travel bucket list for the near future. Thanks for sharing.

Lampedusa is a wonderful island. I have been to Italy twice and I would have liked to visit such islands.
There are unique places in Italy, I have reached some but an island like this Lampedusa I did not deserve.
You need a plan made with an experienced otherwise you get lost in Italy with many destinations to visit.
I talked to my son from Italy but I am related to him and why he wants to visit.
In time I have to propose a visit to the island of Lampedusa.
    Respectfully
