The Best Tropea Luxury Hotels

Looking to vacation in Tropea Italy and looking for the best Tropea luxury hotels? Continue reading and start planning your vacation to Tropea Italy today. Tropea lies deep in Calabria, the toe of Italy’s boot, and doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves. The town sits above the Tyrrhenian Sea on the Coast of the Gods and is stunningly beautiful with fantastic beaches, a charming historical center, and restaurants serving fresh seafood. Tropea is literally mythical, as legend says it was founded by Hercules, who is honored in the name of the main square, Piazza Ercole.

Tropea has two and a half miles of pristine white beaches that are among the cleanest and best in Italy. Dramatic rock formations, cliffs, coves, and grottoes dot the coastline, with sparkling, turquoise, Caribbean-like water. So rent an umbrella, soak in the rays, take a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea, and watch tiny fish swim through your legs. You can also rent canoes, paddle boats, or rubber dinghies, or scuba dive and snorkel year round. Or easily spend hours wandering Tropea’s pedestrian-only cobblestone streets lined with restaurants, pizzerias, cafés, gelaterie, and artisan shops. Tropea Weather – When to Visit

This lively summer beach town does get crowded in July and August—mostly with Italian and other European tourists—so if you enjoy personal space, May, June, September, and October are probably better choices. Visit and spend some quality time in one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Temperatures start to warm up in May up into the mid 70s, with June temperatures averaging around 81°F. September and November are pleasant, with an average temperature of 77°F. In the fall, the scenery is vibrant, prices are lower, and the weather is ideal for exploring all Tropea has to offer.

Will be traveling to Europe later this year and Italy is definitely on our itinerary. Haven’t been to Tropea but it sounds wonderful. The beaches and weather sound fantastic and with your hotel recommendations it just may be a location to be put on our list. Lots of things to do and some wonderful restaurants as well. The bars and nightlife look interesting as well. I appreciate the heads up on this.

The first time I went to Tropea, I was looking for that famous village perched on rocks, gazing dizzily at the turquoise waters of the sea at its feet.

But when we were finally there, I understood that this town in Calabria, the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is much more than just that iconic picture. I was so thrilled about this town that I want to visit it again this year!

I am looking to book a trip to Italy. I’ve always wanted to go, but then the pandemic hit. Tropea sounds like an amazing luxury hotel. Imagine, the island was named after Hercules. I’d go in May this way there aren’t too many crowds and the weather won’t be so hot. The food prices seem reasonable as well. Maybe I’ll go next year.

You know if you compare going to an island in the Caribbean to a wonderful place like Tropea, there is no comparison.  The Caribbean is going to be more expensive across the board.  If you go during the low seasons, even better.  Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to leave me comments.

Tropea sounds like a lovely place to visit. I’ve spent time mostly in Northern Italy while stationed in Aviano. We visited Trieste, Venice, Verona and Florence while we were there. All were beautiful towns with so much history and amazing food. I would love to visit Southern Italy too. There are so many beautiful places still to see. I can’t wait to make another trip to Italy some day. Thank you for this great information on Tropea, it definitely looks like someplace I’d love to visit.

Hi Leahrae, I did a lot travel with my family about 8yrs ago. We were living in the Canary Islands and when my partner was off work we would grab our 12 and 9yr old and travel Europe or Scandinavia for 4 days up to 2 week periods. I did all the travel research and bookings.

For one holiday I took a friends recommendation to go to the Algarves in Portugal. It was lovely but not us, too manicured so I learned to take peoples recommendations with a grain of salt.

Your site is like wow. Had I found something like this I would have used it (and not gone to the Algarves). It’s a one stop site. The fact that you are mentioning the Tropea luxury hotel, I thought you’d made a typo and meant the Tropical luxury hotel but instead i’ve discovered what looks like an amazing spot in Italy. The photos, videos and mentioning sites of interest in the areas are fabulous. We went to Italy and admittedly didn’t have a whole lot of time so did the standard places but this type of site/info would have been so useful. I love unusual out of the way places. The way you write is engaging and makes me want to go!

One thought, what if you could interact with local activity providers to add another level to what you’re offering?. When we went up to Finland I got hold of a woman who helped organise reindeer sleigh rides, swimming in a frozen ocean (in a dry suit) and other brilliant stuff. I know this is the exact opposite weather/activity from you’re offering but possibly a close up on the areas you’re promoting? If I had found someone with a bit more local knowledge I would have paid for it. I’m not sure how but getting a closer link to those areas could be useful. Reading the comments people already seem highly engaged, you could take them further.

    Hope this is useful

I appreciate your comments Carolyn, and your suggestions 🙂  I will check into it.  Sounds like you  have lived an amazing life.  I have an aunt in the Canary Islands, Tenerife.  I visited her for 3 weeks, and absolutely loved it.  We went from a sunny beach up to the volcano where it was snowing.  I was awed and do plan on  heading back there soon (covid determines that LOL).  Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave me comments.

I have to say I am a huge fan of older towns, as you learn a great deal about the community culture. My first choice would be to stay in Tropea where is old and I can take lots of pictures or have a professional photographer take some of my family. Your website has really saved me lots of time doing research for vacations around beaches.

What a gorgeous place to visit. I have seen pictures before but never realized that Tropea was in the boot of Italy. who wouldn’t love the pristine beaches and lovely accommodation? I can see myself enjoying the canoeing and beachside cafes. Plenty of time to soak up the sun and do some reading and then swim to cool down. I like the idea of sitting on the veranda at Hotel Rocca Della Sena, the rooms look like heaven.

Hi Leahrae, this is my 1st review as I have just recently started the WA training, but I have to say – wow! – your site is amazing.  I thought I was doing OK and I have just written my about me page!

I have looked through nearly all of your pages and I love the way that you have links that redirect people to other areas of your site, eg from best beach gear then offering safety advice on sunscreen and links to other advice pages such as clothing etc.

I also love the youtube videos you have which add extra colour and music which keeps the site interactive.

Overall, again all I can say is wow and thank you for inspiring me to continue and put in the effort you have, looking at other ways I can link info & affiliate potential to my blogs / posts.

    Thanks & take care, Peter

Although I love the hustle and bustle of a busy beach with great amenities, I also like to find a place to “stake my claim” For that reason, I think I would visit any one of these beaches but probably in June because 81 degrees is plenty warm enough for me!  It looks like there are plenty of resorts that are within walking distance of the beach and the shopping/nightlife district.  I can’t wait to book my trip!

Wow, another gorgeous beach destination in Italy. Even though I live in Italy, I have yet to visitTropea. From the historic little town piazza to the sheer rock face going down to the sea, to the beautiful beaches, it seems to be a must to visit.  Guess I need to plan a trip!

The boat trips taking you around the coastline and stopping off for swimming, sounds an idyllic way to spend a day. Tropea has been added to my bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
