Vukovar Weather – Best Time to Visit Vukovar

Coastal Croatia has warm to hot summers and mild winters. The best time to visit Croatia is in May and June or September and October when the weather is pleasant and sunny. This makes it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. It is also less crowded at these times than the summer months of July and August which are high season and can be very hot, especially in the afternoon. It is also a time when locals take their vacations. From October to March, the coast can be very quiet and a number of hotels and tourist attractions could be closed. However, the mild winters are good for sightseeing in the historic centres of Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar. Swimming should be in order from mid to late May. The rainiest month is December.

It is probably best to avoid the winter inland as it can be cold and snow can be experienced, especially on high ground with average daily temperatures around the freezing Mark. Spring is an excellent time to go cycling, hiking or touring on a Croatia vacation. The rainiest month is August. You can learn more about the great cities along the Danube River Here.

The Vukovar Water Tower’s title symbol of Croatian unity was justified through the Homeland War, enduring more than 600 direct hits by the aggressors, and revealing the resistance, spirit and brave heart of all Croatian defenders who resisted the attacks of one of the world’s leading military forces and the aggressor’s paramilitary units, not only in Vukovar but throughout the Republic of Croatia for whose independence and freedom they fought.

An incredibly moving museum. The absurdity of the war becomes particularly clear when one sees that the violence was also directed against an institution such as a hospital. Even though there are only a few rooms, the design with dolls wrapped in bandages offers a particularly vivid and oppressive atmosphere. The development of the conflict in Vukovar can be found in the hallway and also provides daily information about the victims and wounded.

Thank you for your article into the Best of Vukovar Croatia,

I was fortunate to have lived in London for two years and travelled to many EU countries. Unfortunately, I never made it to Croatia. I would still really like to be able to visit there one day.

You have provided some wonderful and useful information of this city. It seems to be very reasonably priced still with food. Is accommodation still quite inexpensive also? What other areas would you recommend visiting near this city?

What would be the best way to travel around? I would expect public transport would be quite efficient and easy to use. Thanks for sharing this informative read

Make sure to visit the Dalmatian Coast, Plitvice Lakes National Park, Mljet Island, Split and Dugi Otok Island.  All of these are worth seeing for sure.  Public transport in Croatia is reliable and easy to use. Croatia public transport consists, above all, of an extensive bus and ferry network. Hope this helps 🙂
