Saint Tropez has long been a hot spot for the international elite. Matisse once called it France’s “little nook of paradise”. Brigitte Bardot bought a house here and made it an international hot spot overnight. Celebrities from Picasso to Armani to Jay-Z to Leo Dicaprio to Bono, have flocked here for the Summer.
But, despite its fame, the famous seaside town, which used to be a fishing village, is full of unique French charm. It has tiny decorated cobblestone streets, peach-colored buildings, hidden plazas and beautiful vineyards. In the off-season, the village has only about 5,600 residents. But, in the summer, it attracts more than 80,000 visitors.
