Navarre Weather – When to Visit
The best time to visit Navarre is between mid-September and October when both spring breakers and family vacationers have departed the city, leaving the beaches, attractions and restaurants devoid of peak season crowds. The weather is still moderate this time of year, and the risk of hurricanes wanes, too. The late fall and winter months of November through February are considered low season, with dropping temperatures and room rates. Heavy crowds of students and families swarm the city and its beaches in peak season’s early spring and summer to take advantage of the prime beach weather.
Right at the foot of the entrance to the bridge that takes you to Navarre Beach is Navarre Park. Overlooking the beautiful sound, Navarre Park boasts two separate playgrounds, fishing piers, walking paths, picnic areas, a splash pad, and its Black Hawk memorial, which serves as a tribute to the lives lost in a military training accident.
Navarre Beach Pier
Located exactly between Pensacola and Destin, Florida in Santa Rosa county, Navarre Pier is one of the prime spots for pier fishing. It measures 1,545 feet long and is 30 feet above the water. The pier offers fun for the entire family. Navarre Pier has a privately-owned bait and tackle shop that gives guests the opportunity to rent fishing poles in case you forget yours at home! Visitors also can choose to enjoy the tasty food at the outdoor restaurant located right on the pier. Whether you choose to take a stroll or jump right into the middle of the action, Navarre pier is the place for you!
Navarre Beach offers warm, sparkling waters you’d expect to find only in the Caribbean, but the miles of protected lands and lack of notoriety allow for vast open space to spread out and relax. That is of course, without feeling congested with the summer crowds that flood some of the larger, more well-known destinations.
Santa Rosa Sound
The Santa Rosa Sound is a sound connecting Pensacola Bay and Choctawhatchee Bay. It runs 33 miles long and is the thin strip of barrier island that separates it from the Gulf of Mexico is Santa Rosa Island. You can swim in the Sound, and it is the perfect place to kayak or paddle board.
Navarre Beach Marine Park
At the Navarre Beach Marine Park, you don’t just learn about marine life—you can dive right into it. Just off the Navarre Beach Bridge, this innovative park connects Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf of Mexico with three attractions above and below sea level; the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station, the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center, and the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary & Artificial Reefs.
