Croatia Beach Holidays

Croatia is blessed with Europe ‘s most glorious coastline which has miraculously escaped the over-development of some other Mediterranean vacation and holiday destinations. Situated in Southern Central Europe,Croatia is a roughly horseshoe-shaped country with a coastline 1,777 kilometers long. No less than 1,185  islands lie offshore, but only 66 of them are inhabited. Slovenia lies to the north, Italy to the west.To the east and south are Bosnia and Montenegro, both peaceful, and newly independent countries of the former Yugoslavia. Croatia’s stunning coastline is on the Adriatic Sea, one of the cleanest seas in the Mediterranean and wonderfully warm.

Croatia’s main tourist attraction is, and always has been, its beaches. With miles of pristine continental Adriatic seaside and dozens of islands to visit, the sun and fun are endless. For this journey, leave the kids and your inhibitions home; I’m taking you to Croatia’s sexiest beaches.  As far as beach travel destinations go, Croatia beaches cannot be beat!  Croatia Beach Holidays are one of a kind.  Here is a sampling of their best beaches:

Stiniva Beach, Vis Island

Swimming on Vis is an unforgettable experience firstly thanks to the clearness of the open sea that surrounds it. No matter whether you are looking for an escape from the heat by jumping into the sea into St. George’s Bay itself, or that you have abandoned yourself to the unusually strong currents and gentle caress of undersea fresh water springs in Molo Trovna or even better: you are aimlessly floating on an inflated crocodile in the middle of the Zoglov sand bay, Vis’ sea is what remains in your memories and cannot be expressed.

What can be disclosed are the beaches that are mainly approachable by road, suitable for family excursions and due to the amount of natural shade are ideal for the younger guests as well. Stiniva beach is protected upon the Nature Protection Law, as geo-morphological monument of nature.

Reaching this divine beach on Vis Island can be quite difficult since there are no direct access for cars. From mainland direction it can be only reached by foot or by boat from seaside. This might be main reason why Stiniva beach managed to preserve its primeval beauty.  Once you have finally reached Stiniva beach you can get refreshments in the small bar located right next to the beach. The best part of the day to visit Stiniva is probably morning. However due to high cliffs that surround beach there is always enough shade during anytime of the day.

Its only negative side is the fact that there is no shade from the sun so the only way to refresh yourself in the hot summertime is at the nearby café and swimming in the sea.  There is also a restaurant which offers various Dalmatian specialties. Those who prefer sports and recreation can enjoy volleyball and picnics, however, you must bring all your own equipment because the beach does not provide such services. The sea is shallow enough that it is appropriate for small children and those who do not know how to swim.

One such beach is Mali bok, under the village of Orlec. The access to the beach is partly by car on a sealed narrow road from Orlec, then a not too long steep walk down to the beach. If you are lucky, you might even spot a griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), the biggest bird in Europe, which only finds its home in a very few remaining places in Europe, including island Cres, truly the eco island paradise of Adriatic.

This site must be so much fun to update! Croatia is so stunning and even though I live in one of the most beautiful countries on earth (New Zealand) we’re thinking of moving back to Europe so that we can travel to these beautiful places.
With regards to your site, I’d remove the counter from your sharing buttons as it just draws negative attention when you don’t have a high number of shares. In my opinion.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

I just added the counter today. I guess I can remove the counter portion until I get more clicks on it. Thank you so much for letting me know. Also for visiting my site. And yes, it is fun to update!

  2. Norah Jansen

Croatia has been on my bucket list to visit for a long time and this post just makes it even more attractive. Thanks.

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Croatian beaches seem really spectacular when viewed through your site and information. There seems enough room for everyone.

Do you have seasons that are better to visit?

These do seem to be well-suited for anyone’s vacations time.

Thanks for your view of the interesting and beautiful places to spend vacation time .

    1. Leahrae (Post author)

Anyone and everyone would enjoy a beach vacation here for sure. The best time to travel for weather is between April and September. This is also their busiest time. July and August is Croatia’s peak tourist time and will be the most expensive, so if you want a budget friendly beach vacation, avoid these two months. If you want to avoid the crowds, head there between September and May 🙂 Croatia Beach Holidays are wonderful anytime you go for sure !

  4. Mrpbrown

I believe half way through reading this my bags and clothes magically started packing themselves. This has certainly been added to my list of vacation destinations. It’s good that technology hasn’t taken away some of the little beauties we get to experience. Thanks for the awesome info. Do you think priceline is a good solution for both finding hotels and flights ?

    1. Leahrae (Post author)
