Praslin Island Seychelles

With stunning white sand beaches and lush tropical forests, Praslin Island of the Seychelles is wonderful.  Despite being the second biggest island in the Seychelles, the population is only 6,500 people. It is a sleepy, laid back and far less developed than its neighbor Mahe.  The beaches on Praslin stand out, with the famous Anse Lazio and Anse Geogette frequently making top ten lists of best beaches and most beautiful destinations worldwide. Praslin Island is the only island where you can enjoy an 18 hole round of golf on a championship course, or discover the amazing Coco De Mer, an exotic plant that lead to the belief the Seychelles were the true Garden of Eden.  It makes a great base for day trips to neighboring islands too.  See the amazing sea birds on Cousine Island, explore the hills and mangroves and meet giant tortoises in the wild on Curieuse, or go swimming and scuba diving around St Pierre or any one of the fantastic dive sites around the island.

The beaches around the island are all dreamy, with white sand and shallow, turquoise seas. The beaches of the south coast are extremely shallow, and from May to October seaweed washes up on the southern shores making the beaches a little less appealing, while this isn’t a problem on the north coast.  The beaches on the south east of the island can disappear at high tide, while the north east at Anse La Blague is stunningly beautiful but remote, so if you stay here you will want your own transportation. Any beaches between Anse Lazio and Anse Gouvernment on the north coast are all amazing beaches.

If you’re looking for sightseeing, Praslin Island may not be the place for you.  For many tourists, this is the charm. The beaches here are so gorgeous you’ll have trouble rousing yourself and moving on to the next destination.  But when you do, you’re in luck.  It’s most likely you’ll end up on another equally lovely beach.  Anse Lazio Praslin Island Seychelles is listed as one of the top 20 beaches in the world.  Here you can find information on all of the 20 most beautiful beaches of the world.  Read our Anse Lazio Praslin Island Seychelles Vacations guide to start planning your vacation to this wonderful beach destination.

Praslin Island Weather (When to Visit)

The summer (December – February) weather is the perfect time of year in Praslin Island to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high temperature is between 87.6°F and 85.6°F.  This time of year is the busiest for  tourists. During the fall (March – May), humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel warm. Temperature highs range from 89.8°F to 87.5°F with similar temperatures in the later months.  Fall is the second busiest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for things to do. The middle months of June – August is winter here.  These months are very comfortable.  June – August is the slowest season for tourism in Praslin Island, so lodging and other accommodations may cost less than usual.  Spring (September – November) has average temperature highs from 87.7°F and 84.8°F, which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind.  Tourism is fairly slow during these months.

Anse Georgette is outstandingly beautiful.  It’s quiet and hidden away in the grounds of the Constance Lemuria resort which remain empty, untouched and a wonderful shade of blue. What makes it so unique is that there isn’t a single rock or piece of coral in the bay, allowing the white sands on the sea bed to create a wonderful turquoise colored water that is unblemished. It is the most attractive beach on the island – but it is unsafe to swim due to strong waves and currents that threaten to pull you out to sea.

There’s no doubt that Anse Lazio deserves its reputation, but its fame has lead to great popularity. To avoid the crowds, time your visit right and get here early in the morning.

Nice! I was in the Navy from 1976 – 1980 and in 1978 my ship was deployed and we spent 108 days straight in the Indian Ocean without seeing land. Afterwards, we got to anchor in the port of Seychelles and spend two days. What an amazing place. As you said, the tropical forests are great and beautiful. But what stood out was the pure white sand beaches and the unbelievably clear ocean water. You can see down in the water forever.
As a recent retiree, Seychelles is on my list because I want my wife to see it.
Thanks for a great review and bring back some cool memories.

The water is so clear in the video, makes you want to jump in. The snorkeling would be fantastic way to spend the day. Getting to Anse Lazio Praslin Island Seychelles may take some effort, it would be worth the journey after you got there. I would have a hard time getting out of the water.

I have to agree. I spend the day at Clearwater Beach yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, it is an amazing beach (#1 in the U.S.) but, the water is not clear, and it is full of seaweed. So Anse Lazio really is wonderful, and getting out of the water would definitely be tough!

The Seychelles Islands are a place I have heard a lot about. My wife and are beachcombers and these Islands are beautiful. The Ziblo Boat Tour is one excursion we would be interested in. We both like to go all over the island in one hop so as to see the most attractions. Plenty to do with good restaurants and hotels. A great place to take a vacation.

Anse Lazio Praslin Island Seychelles wow that’s a mouthful and I don’t even understand what each word means :-)I am willing to bet there are many other places that would claim to be Eden like as well. It’s kinda funny though if you started out from there, would you have to be a bird or a fish to leave? This place seems like a wonderful spot to utilize for meditations and visualizations.

Wow, this is a stunning beach and the weather looks amazing. How is the humidity on the island from September to December? I’m planning a trip and it’s one of the places of interest.

However, my wife really likes sightseeing and you stated that it might not be the place for you. Are there any other places around there that could be for sightseeing? It’s not a deal breaker, but I know my wife likes to explore and take pictures and everything.

Well to me the natural beauty of everything there is enough for gorgeous pictures. You can also take a boat to the other islands at a very reasonable price. They do have a high humidity. But for me, growing up with it, it doesn’t bother me. It is also great for the skin and hair 😀 A positive way to look at the humidity. You and your wife would absolutely have a wonderful time on Praslin Island in the Seychelles. Thanks for stopping by.
